Soap & Glory Lip Balm

A Great Kisser

I'm not daft on the Soap & Glory stuff, I do like & own some of their products.  But I prefer my body lotions & things to be a little less fake smelling - more of a natural smell I suppose?  Or a smell you'd find in nature; cocoa or fruity.

This is however not on their products like that, this is about their Great Kisser lip balm.

Here's a link to it on the Boots website: Soap & Glory - A Great Kisser Lip Balm

Smell/Colour

The tin doesn't actually have a name or description of the flavour on it but it is the  Juicy Peach one I think.  The smell is amazing!  Not like a real peach but lovely all the same.  It isn't too strong which will suit people who aren't to keen on scents.

It has a pinky/peach colour to it in the tin, but on the lips it looks clear.  This is what I want from a lip balm - does the job without drawing too much attention sort of thing.

The product information on the Boots website does say that the Juicy Peach one is tinted - my lips may just be the wrong colour for it to show up on?!

Texture

It looks very creamy to start & when you dip your finger in it feels pretty creamy too.  However it is a bit thick - this means putting it on your lips is a bit like spreading Nutella straight from the fidge (maybe not that hard but you get the idea!)

It isn't sticky or gloopy at all on the lips - so if you manage to get it onto your lips it's great.

It calls itself a 'lip moisture balm' although I haven't found it to be extremely moisturising.  It does make your lips look great and is a nice base before lipstick though.  It just doesn't have the moisture power that some others do.

Packaging/Price

They come in cute little tins, roughly the same size as the Vaseline ones.  The 'peach' one is a nice pastel orange with hot pink edging; all of Soap & Glory products have pretty nice packaging.

I think it was around £5's (for a 18g tin) which for a lip balm is a bit pricey to me!  I don't mind £2/3's but a fiver could have paid the majority of a little eyeshadow from Boots haha.

So..

To re-cap;

  • It has a great smell & colour (although it's only clear on the lips)
  • It's a bit thick to apply
  • Not too sticky
  • Not overly moisturising
  • Nice packaging
  • Bit pricey for a lip balm, lots of product though
All in all, this is a great little lip balm.  It may have a few negatives in my opinion but I like it all the same.  If you suffer from really dry lips I think the formula would be too think for you.  As a nice top up during the day I think it works great!  I do feel like it is a bit more of a lipgloss type product than a moisture lip balm & for that £5 may be a bit steep.

Here's to peachy lips, Nic xo
